The Christian World View - 1014 Words

Many questions can be asked concerning the Christian world view. Some of those questions include who is God? What is the nature of the universe? How does one distinguish right from wrong? How does one know what they know? These questions among others can be answered by reading what is written in the bible. The words of the Bible are written by man but inspired by God, who provides the answers to sought questions. According to Revelation 1:8 – God has declared â€Å"I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.† Specifically, God is holy, it is who he is he did not receive or achieve it. God is who sets the standard or what is right and wrong, also setting the†¦show more content†¦We know that the Bible is true, because the events that were revealed have come to pass. God reviled that a savior would be sent, born to a virgin, who would grow up and be crucified for the sins of man. He also indicated that Jesus would rise again. This happened as it was said, which proves that Gods word is true. Knowing what is wrong and right, assist us in understand the purpose of life. Life’s purpose for humanity in general and Christians in specific is to worship God. Along with our worship of God, we are to maintain meaningful relationships with other people; including leading them to salvation, work hard and to take care of the earth and what has been given to us. We are to do this so that we can one day join him in heaven and spend eternity with him. People ponder eternity and what happens after we die, but God has provided answers to what will happen. Different things happen to those who are saved and those who are lost. For those who are saved they will immediately be in the presence of God. This is indicated by the words that are spoken by Jesus on the cross; â€Å"I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise† Luke 23:43. Conversely, those who die without having accepted Christ as lord and savior are condemned to hell and will be there the moment of their death. This is indicated in Revelation 20:11-15 which describes the Great White

When the War first started the United States claimed that the reason behind the war was to contain communist aggression and expansion. The U.S. claimed that the war was caused by outside aggression from the communist North Vietnam and that South Vietnam’s independence was being threatened by the North. This was what the public was led to believe and what policy makers did believe. The United States was the defender of the world against communism. They were the knight in shining armor that would come in and save not only Vietnam but any country from the grasps of communism. It felt as if it was their duty to protect the world from such evil, at least that is what it felt like at the beginning of the war. So based on the readings and class lectures there was a difference in what United States officials were telling the American people and the reality of the Vietnam war, in order to hide the gruesome behavior towards the Vietnamese people, hide that the officials were wrong, con ceal the actual progress in South Vietnam, and distract the people of the issues in their own nation. In the past to get a tattoo you would have to go to a shady shack in the bad side of town where you would be greeted by a dark smoky room and a man that looks like he is about to stab you. After proving your worth by not bursting into tears you would haggle a price you want to pay and he would begin tattooing you while smoking a cigarette and ashing all over your open wound. Today getting a tattoo is a much more enjoyable thing to do you go to a clean shop and everything is sterile. I have been in some tattoo shops that are cleaner than hospitals. Around the same time that tattoos were very dangerous you could have as many as you wanted and join the military. There is a long history of tattoos in the military, Sailors would get certain tattoos that signified where they were stationed. Soldiers in the army would get tattoos representing their units, and the most sacred of all military tattoos when they have lost a brother in combat. Pretty Woman Essay Whenever i hear the words Pretty Woman i cant help thinking of the old song Pretty Woman. This movie gives an all new meaning to these words. Now it isnt just the title of a song, from when our parents were born. The film has made me understand these words as being something as American as can be. So, from now on, whenever i hear the song, i will think of the film and maybe say to myself: My god, thats just typical for those Americans. The film and its characters gives me an excellent picture (maybe a little exaggarated) of todays America. The film isnt a new story. It is a rewrite of the famous adventure about Cinderella. It has been used agian in this film, where the poor princes (Vivian), whom was doomed to live a life in poverty, is rescued by the beautiful and handsome prince (Edward). By this i dont mean to say that the film is nothing but a 1990 version of Cinderella, but its very close. The characters in Pretty Woman pretty much resembles those in Cinderella. Vivian Ward, the poor hooker, who until now, have lived a life as a prostitute on Hollywood Boulevard, where she earned just enough money to pay her bills if it wasnt for her roommate Kit. Kit is also a prostitute. She usually buys dope for the rent money, which leaves Vivian to work extra. To draw parralels to Cinderella, Vivian would (offcourse) be Cinderella, and Kit would be the exploiting stepsister. They have lived like this for a long time, and continues living like that, until one day, when Vivian is picked up byu mr. Edward Levis, a businessman fr om New York, trying to find his way back to Beverly Hills. Edward Lewis is very rich man, who has earned his money by buying companies, and then selling them again in small parts. In doing this he is assisted by his lawyer mr. Philip Stuckey, whom more than anything wants to takeover other companies, if nothing else, just to hurt other people. Mr. Lewis has just got divorced from his wife, and now he lives in a flat on Manhatten. If we once again tries to compare Pretty Woman to Cinderella, Edward Lewis resembles the Prince, who first neglects Cinderella, but later comes to fetch her. Philip Stuckey is hard to place in the story of Cinderella, but i think of him as something like the Princes servant. The next important character is mr. Morse, who owns the company that Edward is currently trying to take over. He is an old man, who rapidly fights back, just to save his workers. His company is saved in the end of the film, where Edward decides that he will rather be part of the firm, instead of taking it over, just to sell it again. I havent been able to place mr. Morse in Cinderella like all the others, but anything to make a film better. In Cinderella you will also, like in all fairytales, find The Good Fairy. Pretty Woman also got one of these. It is the employees of the hotel, who helps Vivian buying clothes, teaching her manners etc. Pretty Woman is a film about love and live values, mixed up with a little bit of everything contributing to The American Way Of Life. The primary theme of the film is love the love between rich and poor, which is shown in the love between Vivian and Edward.
